Reality Check
myronlearn1 August 2019
Daniel Palladino, this episode's writer, obviously didn't grow up in the Northeast. If he had, he'd realize that February is bitterly cold on Martha's Vineyard. The scene with Luke, Lorelei, Rory and Logan eating dinner outdoors and walking along the beach is meteorologically unrealistic.

Gilmore guys are painful to watch this season

Warning: Spoilers
I've been trying to put my finger on why I've struggled to enjoy the later seasons of Gilmore Girls and I think I've finally figured it out. It's the Gilmore GUYS.

I actually had to mute buzzkill Luke and all his complaining this episode. His "nice" moment is when he tells Lorelai he loves her - which is apparently a rare event!? Logan and Rory are on again and he's back to love bombing after the yelling at her at the pub a few eps ago.

It seems the writers ran out of ideas on how to introduce drama this season and decided to just have either Logan or Luke, over and over again be annoying, secretive or just toxic. Rinse and repeat.

This ep was definitely in need of some Emily content!

Not a good one for Luke fans

Warning: Spoilers
This is a hard episode to watch if you're a fan of Luke. Rory and Logan are spending Valentine's weekend at Logan's dads place in Martha's Vineyard. They invite Lorelai and Luke. Luke complains the whole time and while Lorelai is trying to be chipper, she finally has enough and snaps at him. Rory looks like a pro in the kitchen and I'm wondering why? Where did Rory learn to cook or even have the motivation to cook? Very out of character for her. Logan and Luke play basketball together and Luke is in a bad mood the whole time even though Logan is trying to be nice. Logan mentions doing a gift exchange for the girls and Luke admits that he didn't bring a present for Lorelai. Logan let's him use one of the 2 gifts he bought Rory. It was a very cool thing for Logan to do. In the end, Mitchum comes and breaks up the party. He tells Logan to suit up and get his head in game, to start getting serious about his future because he's about to go to London for business. This is new information for Rory and she's discouraged because her and Logan are supposed to be visiting Asia.
