At first, My Three Suns looks like it will be about Bender attempting to act as the Planet Express ship's cook, but that's doomed from the start given that Bender doesn't even have a sense of taste. However, this episode soon drops that storyline and becomes a Fry episode, in which Fry again has some difficulty adapting to the thirty-first century. Here, he almost gives up his lungs in exchange for gills on a shady street market. Leela berates him to be more careful, and on making a delivery to the Galaxy of Terror, tells him not to touch anything. The salt from Bender's cooking makes Fry thirsty (this is the only relevance the cooking subplot has to the main storyline), and he drinks a bottle of liquid, not knowing that the aliens on this planet are in liquid form and the alien he drank was the planet's emperor. Fry is an assassin, but as it turns out, the assassin gets to be emperor.
Of course, if a society only lets one become emperor by assassinating the previous emperor, no one is going to reign for very long. Leela figures this out and warns Fry that he's in over his head, but Fry doesn't really listen. This episode is interesting for exploring Fry and Leela's early relationship- friends, but they fight, and Leela is angry enough to hit a punching bag with Fry's picture on it. But she eventually comes back to rescue him. Incidentally, I believe this is the first episode to reveal Fry is 25-years-old. A funny, entertaining episode, and worth watching. A-
