This was the most touching episode of the series. Before Futurama started pulling our heart-strings and exercising our tear-ducts, The story of Rebecca the elephant was dampening eyelids of children. Eliza's moment with her father at the end of the episode after Rebecca passes really flourish the characters' depths.
I normally wouldn't review an episode of a TV show that has long since been cancelled, but this is an episode that I will be showing my children. Not only to teach them about life and death, but to include them in a piece of my own childhood that helped make me who I am today. I see myself as Nigel standing there with his daughter, comforting her.
At one point Eliza says "I bet she had a really good life dad." Nigel replies "May we all be so lucky, pumpkin." If the death of a character doesn't pull your heartstrings, then this serious exchange of words between normally humorous characters surely will.
