A cesspool of corruption
bkoganbing7 December 2020
This Wagon Train story has John McIntire sending Denny Miller into the town of Stark Bluff for mail and maybe o escort some folks who want to leave the place. The place is a cesspool of corruption run by mixed blood Ray Danton whose mom is a Shoshoni princess.

The viewer can see in a few minutes why Danton's town is one to stay away from. Miller tries to look up Jean Hale and her husband who came through on the previous Chris Hale Wagon Train. He finds the husband dead and Hale working for Danton.

Miller gets railroaded on a trumped up murder charge, but he can get outof it if Hale will marry Danton. A regular Snidely Whiplash.

Danton is a strange and crafty villain whose arrogance defeats him in the end. Also note the performances of Stanley Adams and Peter Whitney as a corrupt judge and sheriff in Danton's pocket. Also saloon singer Hari Rhodes a former slave who proves to be Miller's salvation.

Good episode with Ray Danton heading a good group of guest players.
