Lee Tracy and Frank DeKova play a couple of fakers in this Wagon Train story.
Tracy is a ward politician from Boston traveling west because things got a bit hot
for him there. He's traveling with his nephew Harry Carey, Jr. who is something
of an oaf. Carey actually took a rap for Tracy and did a year in the joint for some
political shennanigans.
DeKova is a Ute Indian medicine man who Denny Miller finds staked out and frees. The Utes have a rather interesting way of avoiding malpractice, the medicine man loses too many patients and he's killed. Since he knows John McIntire he seeks refuge with the Wagon Train until they're out of Ute Territory.
At first these two old rogues Tracy and DeKova really hit it off. But then DeKova does his fortune telling shtick for the pilgrims and when he reads Tracy's fortune he sees he sees death within five days.
All I can say is after that, strange things are happening. This Wagon Train gets a bit gothic after that.
And entertaining as well we standout performances by Lee Tracy and Frank DeKova.
