Guest stars take over this particular Wagon Train story. The title character of the Dan Hogan Story is played by Jock Mahoney who served with Ward Bond in the Civil War. Mahoney is from the East and was a prizefighter back there. Now he's a rancher who runs afoul of John Larch a neighbor who was bullying a friend of his. Larch is a fast gun and since the war Mahoney doesn't carry one.
Mahoney can barely shoot one as we learn and has fore sworn violence since his war experience. But as Randolph Scott said in one of his westerns there are some things a man can't ride around.
Mahoney settles it with Larch in his own manner for which you watch the story for. You'll see fine performances from Mahoney and Larch.
