Gallery of villains
pfors-647-50149712 May 2013
Trampas has his hands full with a posse more sinister than the fugitive he's pursuing, a rogues gallery that provides welcome distraction from episode's leaky plot and lean production budget. Preppy, clean-cut Martin Milner bucks off his stereotype by playing a duplicitous crook, George Kennedy and Jackie Coogan are a funny Mutt and Jeff combo as a couple of scrubby scroungers and Raymond St. Jacques grins maliciously as a ruthless bounty hunter who prefers to bring 'em back dead. Pallid Tab Hunter lookalike Steve Carlson, as the subject of the manhunt, was only fit to play a weakling, as he does here. Gene Evans suddenly turns up in a worthless subplot that's merely filler for threadbare story.

One motley posse
bkoganbing3 February 2020
This Virginian episode has Doug McClure leading one motley posse after young fugitive Steve Carlson. Trampas has to bring Carlson back alive in order to clear his friend and Carlson's brother-in-law Hugh Marlowe of a robbery/murder charge.

The problem is that the rest of his posse which consists of Martin Milner, Raymond St.Jacques and Gene Evans all have reasons for bringing Carlson back draped over his saddle.

A couple of bottom feeding prospectors George Kennedy and Jackie Coogan are in the mix also.

As you can see this is one really packed with guest star episodes. Not to be missed.
