Gallery of villains

Trampas has his hands full with one of the most sinister posses in TV history, a rogues gallery that provides welcome distraction from episode's leaky plot and lean production budget. Preppy, clean-cut Martin Milner bucks off his stereotype by playing a duplicitous crook, George Kennedy and Jackie Coogan are a funny Mutt and Jeff combo as a couple of scrubby scroungers and Raymond St. Jacques grins maliciously as a ruthless bounty hunter who prefers to bring 'em back dead. Pallid Tab Hunter lookalike Steve Carlson, as the subject of the manhunt, was only fit to play weaklings, as he does here. Gene Evans suddenly turns up in a worthless subplot that's merely filler for threadbare story.
