Why leave them behind?

Warning: Spoilers
There was no reason the leave Talia's friends on Orin's planet behind. They could have gone through the Stargate at any time. This is a major ply flaw.

"Letters from Pegasus"
allmoviesfan25 April 2024
Warning: Spoilers
Letters from Pegasus picks up where the last episode, "The Brotherhood" left off...with the Wraith fleet ("an alien armada," according to McKay) is bearing down on Atlantis and things don't look good.

Thankfully - to a point, anyway - McKay is able to come up with a way to get messages back to earth. The Atlantis team have the chance to record limited personnel communiques. Except for Teyla and Sheppard, who are off spying on the Wraith fleet, on yet another primitive planet, with specific orders not to take on the entire enemy fleet.

A bittersweet episode with the Atlantis crew facing their mortality and recording messages for their loved ones. Declarations of love, as well. And some record their gripes, too.

Sheppard and Teyla disagree initially about getting natives off the planet before the Wraith arrive. Then they witness the Wraith culling a village.

Samantha Tapping has a cameo right at the end of the episode as her Stargate: SG1 character, Samantha Carter.

An episode with two stories
sheila-8511911 February 2021
Teyla and Sheppard go on a mission to suss out The Wraith and rescue a few people along the way. That's the good bit and worthy of seven out of ten The other story allows people to record messages to send home through the wormhole. This is the not so good bit. Two out of ten. Very tedious and unfortunately the bigger part of the episode. Not sure if it was trying to be funny and/or emotional. Not successful either way. Was looking forward to seeing Amanda Tapping who was billed at the beginning. Blink, and you'd miss her a split second before the closing credits. Don't believe in suggesting an episode is a "filler", just on balance, not good.

What a boring episode

Ugh, as if I want to listen to all these personal messages from the whole Atlantis crew of characters. What an awful episode. I normally like Stargate, but man this was an awful idea for an episode. The episode's dialog also was tremendously lacking in substance, with Teyla suggesting Sheppard was a bad guy for not wanting to sit around during a wraith attack in one of the cloaked Atlantis ships to wait around for extended periods of time for personal friends of hers to arrive and get picked up... thereby putting the other Atlantis crew (not to mention one of their ships) at risk of being discovered by the wraiths for her own personal favor to her friends.

Warning: Spoilers
This had such an intriguing premise, what happened? Nearly the entire episode felt like an excuse for a clip show. The video messages recording was so dumb and terribly unfunny. Not to mention that the quality of the footage was way too good to be homemade, which makes me wonder-why didn't the director just record the messages from the camera that the characters were shown to be using, instead of having the editor put those really gross artificial lines in post? If they would've filmed this in a home video camera (like the one the characters were seen actually using) it would've looked so much more authentic. The other half of the episode was of Teyla and Sheppard waiting around in a ship doing absolutely nothing until Sheppard finally decided to see what was going on, and still the viewer is forced to stay in the ship as Teyla waits around doing nothing. Why the hell didn't we follow Sheppard when he left the ship? Not to mention, the cloaking makes absolutely no sense. Usually in sci-fi, the outer shell of the ship is what's invisible, so why didn't the Wraith see inside when the door was open? To top it all off, Carter's cameo in this was the most underwhelming thing in the entire show so far. I can only hope that it gets better next season.

Reruns and Too Much Dialogue
Easygoer106 June 2021
Warning: Spoilers
About half of this episode is made up of rerun scenes and another quarter is useless "backstory" dialogue. The rest is the only redeeming part. This is made up of Teyla and Sheppard going to a planet to see Wraith tactics when culling human herds. Teyla goes a little too far by trying to save people, but Sheppard (quite rightly) disagrees. Of course, they manage to save a dozen people or so. Overall, quite a forgettable episode.

In episode 15 they recovered a zpm. Why can't they use it to power up the shields in this episode?
