Addiction

After the suicide of Lieutenant Barber from SG-5, Daniel returns from a planet where he found a hand-held computer in a Goa'uld palace with a fascinating light inside. Soon Daniel has a strange and violent behavior and falls into coma. Dr. Fraiser agrees that Jack, Sam and Teal'c investigate the planet and they meet the teenager Loran, who lives alone in the place. When Jack returns, he finds that Daniel is dying and Dr. Fraiser believes he is addicted in the light. Will the SG-1 discover the secret of the mysterious light? Who is Loran?

"The Light" is a boring episode of "Stargate SG-1" poorly resolved. In addition, the story does not explain how Loran has survived alone for so many years and how he gets supplies. My vote is six.

Great episode

Everything was great except for the chemical warfare suits, they don't block or filter biological agents which are really small.

Another weird off world experience as another SG team plays the role of cannon fodder. Decent acting, little to no effects, and an interesting resolution.

Warning: Spoilers
Yet another episode with a high moral content. Just say no Kids! SG-1 are on their way to a planet with a deserted Goa'uld temple where SG-5 and Daniel have been doing some research. As they are about to go through the gate, Sgt. Barker (in Star Trek he'd be in red) runs into the unstable vortex as it forms.

Daniel and rest of SG-5 get recalled and after blowing his top Daniel is sent home to settle down. The next day he can't be reached and Jack goes to find him... about to jump off his balcony.

After Jack reels him in, Daniel falls into a coma with, wait for it, no apparent reason!! SG-1 decide to go back to the Goa'uld temple once the rest of SG-5 are found in a similar condition to Daniel's psychosis.

Once on the planet, Jack finds a boy in his late teens, Loran, living alone in the temple. They also find a spiffy plasma light display that looks like Bill Gates' lava lamp. After a few minutes Hammond dials back in and tells the team SG-5 is dead and they've been out of contact for well over an hour.

The plot thickens.

Turns out the place is a Goa'uld Opium Den and SG-1 have to wean themselves off the effects in order to not go insane. The team take Loran back with them since his parents died after getting hooked on the funky radiation.

It's amazing the number of episodes where Carter and Daniel and Teal'c are befuddled by what is an obvious cause for some weird situation. In this particular episode it is Carter who succumbs, like a moth to the flame.
