Given the year this episode was broadcast. It was a meeting of current events. The oil crisis and the IRA bombing campaign.

Paddy Regan is the Irish bomber who just loves his work. He sets off a bomb in the embassy of a south american country. It's dictator, President Morales is visiting Britain and the authorities want to keep him sweet. His country has oil.

Special Branch first think the bomb was a protest against Morales actions.

It transpired that someone was targeting the secretary working in the embassy. Getting rid of loose ends as she knew too much.

Morales is in London to exchange some diamonds. A gangster called Hodges knows about this and plans to steal the diamonds.

This is an action packed episode with Craven taking on Hodges on a boat in a lake. All because Hodges attacked Detective Sergeant Mary Holmes who went undercover as a nightclub hostess.

It's a cue for some 1970s sleaze, despite Holmes dodgy wig. A showbiz agent just cannot keep his hands off her. Later Hodges wants to have his wicked ways with her and roughs her up when she refuses to play ball.

The showbiz agent is taken out by Hodges while he is sitting on the khazi.

It really does have some black humour. The unhinged Paddy Regan steals the episode as the bomber who gets too greedy. Craven has a torch for Holmes but also has a bit of sexism. He did not want her to go undercover as it was too dangerous.
