Unwilling to report his suspicious to the pompous Sheriff Adams, who continues intimidating and harassing the Kents, Clark launches his own investigation and discovers that Marsh and his two friends are using refined kryptonite to use as inhalers to give them super-human strength. Meanwhile, Clark quits his job at school paper, The Torch, after discussing with Chloe about him missing a few too many deadlines. Lana sees Jennifer Small with her lawyer, and she tells Lana that she plans to divorce Henry Small. Also, Lex tries to find what cargo was stolen from his father by trying to follow Eric Marsh, while Lionel arrives in Smallville for a surprise visit to Lex, and to Chloe whom he offers her a job as an intern at the Daily Planet newspaper in Metropolis. When Lionel visits Chloe after the Torch is vandalized you can see a mirror on the back wall. As the actors walk in front of it the image in the mirror appears to be Lana and someone in a Crow Letterman jacket, not Chloe and Lionel. See more »

Alien Steroids
9 October 2007 | by (United States) – See all my reviews

This episode portrays the controversial issue of steroids with a few Smallville High baseball players in a stylized way in the second Season's 20th episode.

Lex gets some of his stuff stolen by a boy named Eric Marsh and a few of his buddies on the baseball team. Not knowing who committed the theft, and to Sheriff Nancy Adams' chagrin, Clark tells Lex that he will help find the thieves. He finds out that the players are taking steroids enhanced by the mysterious green substance found in many rocks among the town. Clark helps the players realize that inducing on the drug may be beneficial short-term, but will have very negative repercussions long-term.

This episode is most interesting because of its commentary on the steroids issue surrounding Major League Baseball, particularly in 2002, when the episode aired for the first time. Because the episode addressed this issue in particular, sports fans and "Smallville" fans alike will enjoy this episode.
