Don Stroud just can't get off of skid row
pkfloydmh19 September 2021
This one is about the rookies trying to locate a gun that was used in a robbery. The gun eventually falls into the hands of a dangerous criminal, played by Don Stroud.

This is a solid episode with an interesting story, plenty of action and fine performances by the entire cast.

There are several chases, a couple of shootouts and some nice stunts too.

Don Stroud made a career out of playing short-tempered wackos, ex-cons, thugs and hoods and he's excellent here as Grange, the gorilla who eventually takes possession of the gun. As usual, he's living in a dump, has no money, is hanging around in seedy pool halls and beating people up and is committing robberies. When he notices the rookies have spotted him while he's walking down the street, he hightails it out of there and the rookies are then forced to chase him on foot, which is the story of his life as he's ALWAYS on the run from the law. Eventually, the gun is stolen from Grange by his cousin who takes it as collateral for money Grange owes him. Bad idea. You don't mess with Don Stroud.

Bruce Fairbairn's hair is thicker and wavier than it was before and he has it combed nicely too, so it's looking really sweet. It's great to see he's getting into the habit of combing it before each scene.

This is a great episode and one of the best this season.
