Kryten wakes the crew of Red Dwarf after 200 years hyper sleep.
This is an enjoyable episode with lots of laughs. The sci-fi concept is relatively good but the shape shifting alien feels a pretty well-worn concept within the franchise. Nevertheless it is used to good comic effect.
Some of the best bits involve Lister's disorientation following the period in stasis and the re-establishment of his personality. In fact this episode is fairly character driven and the concept of the psirens lends itself to that further.
The comedy banter comes at full pelt with the insults bouncing back and forth continuously. All performances are at the usual high standard.
Visually it is strong, with good effects and solid sight-gags involving Lister and Kryten.
This episode feels different, like it is kickstarting a slightly more serialised structure where the characters have more focus on an objective (McGuffin) rather than whiling away the rest of their lives randomly exploring space and multiple sci-fi themes.
