Played by Virginia Sale and not the more accustomed Alvia Allman, who also played Elverna Bradshaw on Beverly Hillbillies, it's pointed out here Kate and Selma have been fighting essentially since around 1947.
Even more surprising is Mike Minor as that son, Dan. Amazingly enough, he is married off at the end of the episode, hence why he probably was never seen again, enabling Minor to return as the more familiar Steve.
It beggars to imagine Allman's Plout portraying the mother of a son, played by Minor. Wow.
Much of the episode is quaint enough, especially with Kate and Selma arguing in the general store in front of Sam. Good entertainment there.
