At The Pink Percolator coffeehouse, Patty overhears folk singer (Arnold Soboloff) quit. She rushes to Mr. Haley (Bruce Kirby) to offer her talents as "Pittsburgh Patty". After an audition, Mr. Haley offers her the job, which mostly includes waitress duties and custodial work. Richard becomes her manager, which is mostly being her co-worker. Patty begins working on her folk ballads, but soon realizes she is truly hired as a waitress. Martin and Natalie has meanwhile forbid Patty being a folk singer at the coffeehouse. She decides to quit, but gets a final chance to perform at the coffeehouse. Trouble abounds when she spots some familiar faces in the crowd.
