Poles Apart
sol-kay25 March 2013
**SPOILERS*** Both actor Jack Klugman and John Larch as Polish Ameicans Pete Kammik & Steve Werminski who at a time of great joy and happiness in the birth of Steve's son become the bitterest of enemies! That because as in the case of Steve he can't quite accept the good luck that he's having. Challenging Pete to a duel in the meat cooler where he works at the meat processing factory in Manhattan Steve gets a large bottle of vodka for the two to get drunk on so they can get on with it, the big fight, without feeling any pain. It's Steve who's been secretly holding his friend Pete responsible for wrecking the High-Fi Stereo set that he brought him as a present and never forgave him for that.

Things could have gotten a lot worse if the two drunks were sober but it in fact was the booze or vodka that by immobilizing them and kept the two from killing themselves. It was also NYPD detective Frank Arcaro's, Harry Bellaver, mom played by Rosetta Venzeiano who noticed the two at each other throats a the local butcher shop where Peter works. It's Moma Arcaro who got her son to have the cops to rush down to the meat market where Steve is a manager and prevent any real and serious bloodshed from happening.

***SPOILERS*** the big fight between Steve & Pete in the meat cooler didn't amount to much with both gladiators passing out almost dead drunk before any damage could be done. It's after all the fighting was over that both Steve & Pete realized what a bunch of jerks they really were and as the best of friends went back to their lives, and in the case of Steve to his wife and new member of the Werminski family, and put all their foolishness and differences that they exhibited all throughout this "Naked City" episode behind them.
