Having gone through a similar procedure, watching Andy go through his fears of having surgery, and the beginning of his recovery is one of the most realistic portrayals of this situation I have seen. Dennis is not a pretty boy, but his talent was immense. His retirement is a loss to the acting world.

Those Guys Are Everywhere Now
Hitchcoc26 August 2021
Those four murderers portrayed in this episode are almost mainstream these days. I'm sure there are a bunch of people sympathetic to them watching this show. They have so much dedication to their perceived world but they show their true colors when using the system that protects them. Good job by the detectives. As for Mr. Sipowicz, I agree that Dennis Franz is a great actor. He portrayed a whiny, mean spirited, overwrought child just fine. Imagine if every doctor had to put up with that crap every time you tried to help someone. OK. There's the soapbox. I still love this show and Franz is quite incredible.
