T N Crumpets (don't ya'all love that name), an old family friend of Davy's grand dad wants the gang to put his race car on the track. There's trouble ahead in the form of Baron von Klutz, who wants to spoil Crumpets plans and unveil his own super charged car, the Klutzmobile! What a trip, with shades of HOGANS HEROES(!) considering the WW II costumes and accents, ya think?
William Glover plays Crumpets, a popular British actor and look for veteran song and dance man Stubby Kaye as Wolfgang, von Klutz's assistant!
Micky is kidnapped along with Crumpets, and Davy has no choice but to drive the iconic Monkeemobile, up against the Klutzmobile in a race to end all races.
This is really cool stuff, especially for classic muscle car fans. The Monkeemobile was actually a Pontiac GTO, in which two were produced within a months time. The designer of the car also did early work on the original Batmobile in 1966, additionally the famous moon mobile in the James Bond flick, DIAMONDS ARE FOREVER.
The outrageous road race looks to have been filmed on the winding road leading all the way up to the Griifith Park Observatory, which hasn't changed much in 50 years! That very famous road was used in many cop show chases, particularly on MANNIX in the 70s.
Another gem episode from SEASON 2 remastered dvd box set.
