A trailer-trash couple from Texas are on a crime spree robbing liquor stores. Julie just happens to be witness to one of the robberies. The guy is a born loser who's mad at the world - and extremely agitated by his crying, fussy infant daughter. He demands the weak, sniveling wife get rid of the baby so she abandons it at a church. Julie ends up being a temporary Mom and gets very attached.
This is an okay episode, but it changes tone all of a sudden, making it a little strange. At the beginning it seems like it's gonna be a 1970s version of NATURAL BORN KILLERS, but then it turns into 1 WHITE, 1 BLACK, 1 BLONDE AND A BABY.
There is an odd scene where Julie is carrying the baby through a park. It's very ethereal as she gives a soliloquy in voiceover predicting the baby will grow up to be like Scarlett O'Hara. Gotta love the early Seventies! Honestly, I thought the (large) baby looked more like a boy, but whatever! She would have been more likely to grow up to be a lady wrestler if you ask me.
Then we get some lighter scenes where Pete and Linc go out and buy a bunch of baby needs from a suspicious old saleslady, followed by a diapering scene for comedic relief.
Things get deep again when the guys tell Julie she can't keep the infant because children need TWO parents (Ahhh, the good ole days) and it all ends with a standoff inside the church.
