Christmas special of 1984 and this is up there as one of the best episodes in true Minder tradition.
Arthur and Terry start to train a rather lazy greyhound and a also get involved with some slippery corner men selling non existent videos recorders.
Rycott and Chisholm of the local police are heavily involved and we get some great scenes at the local police station.
What makes this a great Christmas special is that it is set around the true Minder locations of London back streets and grotty old fashioned public houses full of dodgy looking characters knocking back large scotches in the middle of the day.
The story motors along and the script moves along at pace with some great one liners and acting of a very high standard.
The climax of the episode is also very good and this is easily the best Christmas special of the others although any episode would eclipse the dreadful 1988 special.

What could be better than Chisholm and Rycott in the same episode!!

Arthur Daley gets involved in a couple of losing propositions: He buys a greyhound that won't run, and then he buys video recorders that don't exist.
Daley and McCann have plenty of great one-liners as they get tangled and un-tangled with the dog breeder and the video recorder conmen.
But the real magic happens between Chisholm and Rycott (along with sidekicks Jones and Melish). They each get a tip to keep an eye on Daley and McCann, because a big score of hot goods is about to change hands. The buildup during the stakeout is perfectly filmed and edited. The payoff might be predictable but it's still hilarious. And that's just the midway point of the episode!
By gawd it just gets better. Crosses and double crosses. And high comedy. It never lets up right to the final line.
Easily one of the best-ever Minder episodes.
