Mayberry is abuzz for the Baseball Class "A" Excursion. Mike loses his jacket, not long after losing another, which prompts Sam to threaten his son with not letting him go to the game if he loses anything else. While playing baseball with friends, Mike loses his watch. Sam reluctantly enforces his warning and feels guilty. Andy gives him the idea to find a way around it to allow Mike to go to the game. Sam's plan has complications. Comical side plots involve Emmett obsessively showing his Ty Cobb signed baseball and Goober trying to trade away parts of the boxed lunch he doesn't like.

Simple, silly script that had a good feel.

Forced, repetitive bits by Goober Pyle (George Lindsey) and Emmett Clark (Paul Hartman) worked well. A tribute to how good of actors they were. Andy Griffith appears and blended in well. The story had a lot of trivia and inconsistencies.

* Two men to take $8, give a ticket, and write the buyer's name down in a log?

* Never mention what city they're going to. The closest MLB cities would be Atlanta, Baltimore, and Washington DC. All in the 350 mile range.

* Mike suddenly feels the watch in his glove after having it on the whole game?

* Ope's absence at the ballgame isn't ever explained.

* Mike gets classic sitcoms temporary braindead not remembering where he put the watch just minutes after putting it in the glove.
