THE MAN FROM U.N.C.L.E. – The Dippy Blonde Affair - 1966

This is the 45th episode of 1964 to 1968 spy series, THE MAN FROM U.N.C.L.E. The series ran for a total of 105 episodes. The first season was filmed in black and with the remainder shot in colour. Robert Vaughn plays agent Napoleon Solo while David McCallum, plays Illya Kuryakin, Leo G Carroll plays Mister Waverly, the boss of the secret agency known as U.N.C.L.E. (United Network Command for Law & Enforcement) Their main enemy is THRUSH, an organization out to take over the planet.

In this episode, UNCLE agents Robert Vaughn and David McCallum get involved with a THRUSH gang that have perfected a new drug. The drug makes a person appear dead, but they can be revived in 24 hours if given the drug. Needless to say THRUSH is using a mortuary as a hideout.

The local THRUSH boss, Robert Strauss, falls for UNCLE plant Joyce Jameson. She is to use her charms to get info out of the smitten Strauss. Several of his underlings, Rex Holman and Bob Turnbull think that Strauss is exceeding his powers and make a move to replace him. All this brings on a battle between the THRUSH types while UNCLE joins in to rescue Miss Jameson.

The story is not the greatest, but comic vets Strauss and Jameson help pull it out of the fire. A fun way to spend 50 minutes in front of the television.

Warning: Spoilers
Joyce Jameson, as Jo-Jo, is really good here as the blond pursued by two THRUSH agents and Robert Strauss, head of the local unit is ready to forsake his crew and even kill another agent for her love. Of course, he doesn't know that Jameson, or Jo-Jo, falls under the spell of Solo and instead shall work for UNCLE.

The very idea that the other THRUSH agent could fake his death and make himself comatose so that he could get back to his fellow agents was original. Strauss, really smitten with Jo-Jo, even goes on a killing spree against his comrades. Imagine his face when he walks out and sees her smooching with Solo.
