Danton's dollies

Warning: Spoilers
'The Seduction Squad' was written by Stephen Kandel, author of the 'Harry Mudd' episodes of 'Star Trek' and story editor on 'Mission: Impossible''s final season. 'Sloane' ( Robert Conrad ) and 'Torque' ( Ji-Tu Cumbuka ) are checking security at a German power station, having been tipped off about a possible sabotage attempt. The station is an important target as it provides power for N.A.T.O. missile bases in Europe. An engineer hears a sequence of musical notes on his computer pen, and begins to behave oddly. He pushes the controls well beyond the safety level, and explosions go off. With Torque's help, Sloane saves the man's life. He was given the pen by his girlfriend, the glamorous model 'Joanna Ross' ( Laura Johnson ). She is in the employ of power-mad cosmetics manufacturer 'Edward Danton' ( Robert Culp ), who is using his girls to lure U.S. Generals into compromising situations - and brainwashing them into disclosing the launch codes of America's nuclear arsenal. Danton intends bringing about Armaggeddon with a preemptive nuclear strike against the East.

Exciting second episode this, with the novelty casting of 'I Spy' star Culp as an eccentric dog-loving villain. Michael Preece, the director, worked on that show. Danton makes mention of his 'European partners', but we never find out who they are. KARTEL, possibly? He is fond of indoor tennis - a possible nod to his 'Kelly Robinson' character. Presumably this was the first show recorded - a fair bit of footage found its way into the opening titles. Lee Purcell is 'Michelle', an employee of the store where the pen came from. Buxom Sybil Danning is seen ( and there's plenty of her to see ) briefly in the first few minutes as 'Angelika Braden'.

Sloane's gadgets - a cigarette lighter containing a laser ( shades of Derek Flint! ) and a dart-firing signet ring.

He gets away from the bad guys by hanging onto the skids of a helicopter, something we'll see him do again later in the series.
