***SPOILERS*** With the local Donnhaven police helpless to stop this man and woman burglary team from breaking into the local homes and robbing them of their valuables they hired private NYC investigator Mike Barnett to get the job done by trapping or catching the pair red handed. It turns out that the woman of the pair stakes out the house by finding out when there's no one at home and then the man robs it at the first opportunity.
The man being a second story man makes his getaway jumping out the window and escaping with the loot before the police arrive! Barnett in checking out the crime scene finds out that the robber raids the refrigerator and helps himself to a can of beer before he checks out! It's then that Barnett sets a trap for the robber by spiking a beer, that's in the fridge, with knock out drugs in order to immobilize him when he pulls off his next job. It's the very next break in that this duet commits that finally pays off but in ways that no one not even Mike Barnett expected!
