Michael Lanyard aka The Lone Wolf is called upon by old friend Father Picard (Eugene Borden) to prove the innocence and save a former "Skid Row" resident Dan Magee (Fred Coby) from execution, which is only a few hours away. Lanyard enlists help from the "Mayor of Skid Row" Johnny Fr'Instance (Johnny Silver) whom he meets at a local café. The Mayor and the cafés's barkeep/waiter (Syd Saylor) points him to a woman named Mary. Enter the condemned man's former gal Mary (played rather well by Sally Field's real life Mother, Margaret Field) and her new beau, the nasty bad guy "Fingers" (Peter Brocco) an abusive skid row veteran and Lanyard has his hands full. Gritty street filming with several social references written in add realism.
