High Noon On The Lone Ranger
hogwrassler2 March 2021
Don and Ann Wyman want the stagecoach franchise for the isolated town of Estacado. Bad guy Dan Gerber wants it, too. Gerber is assisted by henchmen Cass Warren and Jango. And Gerber has long standing grudge against The Lone Ranger. Gerber is also willing to go to any lengths, including murder, to achieve his evil ends. The Ranger and Tonto are on hand to try to help the Wymans and bring an end to Gerber and his henchmen's lawlessness. Three of the four bad guys facing Gary Cooper in High Noon (1952) are reunited in the this episode. Sheb Wooley (Don Wyman), Ian MacDonald (Dan Gerber), and Lee Van Cleef (Jango) are the three. Platinum blonde Phyllis Coates plays Ann Wyman. She has just finished her role as Lois Lane on the "Superman" TV series. Sheb Wooley would later play scout Pete Nolan on "Rawhide" and he also was a novelty singer with a huge mega hit "Purple People Eater" in the late 50s. This is an excellent Lone Ranger episode.

Sheb Wooley Rides Again!
dpc6910 August 2019
I certainly didn't realize how many appearances Sheb made in the Lone Ranger series. Here's one that finds him the victim of deadly ambush with a peroxide blonde Phyllis Coates as his wife. And guess what, he brought along two buddies, Lee Van Cleef and Ian McDonald, who (along with Robert Wilkie) have a showdown with Gary Cooper in "High Noon" that same year! There's a lot of narration in the beginning but it doesn't sound like William Conrad. I just can't place the voice and it is not credited! Anyone know?
