Jim Blake strikes it rich with his gold claim. Storekeeper Roger Gillman had grubstaked Jim and now Jim wants Roger to own half of the claim. Crooked lawyer John Carter is blackmailing Gillman about a killing in Gillman's past. Carter draws up a partnership agreement which contains a clause that if one owner dies, the other inherits the entire claim. Then he plans to murder Jim and have Gillman and he share the mine. But Jim wants his fiancé Ruth Foster to inherit his share. Carter wants to talk Jim into seeing things his way. Then. Carter and Gillman find Tonto injured on the trail from a fall when Scout stumbled. They kidnap him and plan to frame him for Jim's murder. The Ranger and Sheriff Dawson are looking for Tonto. But can they find him in time to upset this nefarious scheme?

James Best plays Jim. He is best remembered as Sheriff Roscoe P. Coltrane in the 1970s TV series, "The Dukes of Hazard."

A young looking brunette Jan Shepard is Ruth. She also makes her only LR appearance in this episode. Jan had a long career and is a familiar face in both movies and TV from the 1950s to the 1970s.
