A funny and moving episode, enjoyed this.

Barry is back on the golf course, now with his own caddy, Alvin learns that Nora Batty is still feuding with former best friend Audrey Craig, thirty years on.

I thoroughly enjoyed this, I found it very funny, and actually quite touching. You can't fault the writer for coming up with the most imaginative episode titles, and this is definitely one of the most random, the only place I have ever seen such an array of terrible hats, is on the head of Nora Batty, who wouldn't chuckle.

Lighter than a feather, this is easy going, sweet humour, but this one does actually have several funny moments. Kwouk and Murphy have both definitely brought something new, I love the way that Alvin and Nora interact with one another.

We've known for many years that Nora Batty's natural enemy is man, we learn here that there's actually a woman that she's fallen out with. The duel scene was great, and the smile was glorious.

It is really so wonderful to see Trevor Bannister appear, still not a full on regular, it won't be long until he's more visible.

8/10.

You get to see Nora Smile!

Nora Batty was a little directionless after the passing of Compo: so the introduction of Alvin was a great move as it breathed new life into her character. The story arc throughout this series was Alvin's failed attempts to bring some cheer into Nora's life. In this episode he along with Truly and Billy attempt to end a long running feud between Nora and former best friend Audrey Brady. In the subplot Barry is reticent about taking up golf again as his golfing exploits invariably end up upsetting The Captain. However Brenda is determined to help her husband so acquires him a caddy and new pair of golf shoes to encourage him. Things rarely go to plan in Last Of The Summer Wine so can any of the schemes actually work out? You have to stick around until the end of the episode to find out. The policemen make a brief appearance where they discuss the possibility of the afterlife. Which is rather poignant given that this was the last but one episode in which Tony Capstick appeared before his passing. This is an enjoyable nicely paced episode in which we see a rare smile form Nora Batty. Its a nice feel-good episode with a fun ending.

Beware of Laughing at Nora's Hats

The boys finds out that Nora Batty once used to be best friends with Audrey Craig but they later fell out.

Audrey laughed at Nora Batty's hat at a wedding. They have not spoken to each other since.

Truly cooks up a scheme to get them back together. A showdown in the middle of a cricket pitch with a brass band playing.

Meanwhile Glenda is persuaded by Auntie Wainwright to kit out Barry with some golf clubs, shoes that once belonged to a comedian and Smiler as caddy.

Just getting to the golf club is a bit of a struggle, the car breaks down.

Some inventive stuff by Roy Clarke with the brass band. The lucky shoes had less to do with golf, poor Barry he will never impress the captain.

I did wonder if Glenda ever checked if the shoes would even fit Barry.
