Quite a gritty one this one...

...but also quite a compelling one. It starts off in a very dark and gritty tone, with the brutal murder of a schoolteacher and a student, but the story after that never ceases to be well constructed and compelling. This is helped very much by the excellent production values, beautiful music, good writing and decent direction. And all the performances are very well done, I always delight in seeing John Thaw on screen and he doesn't disappoint and neither does Geraldine James as the lovely Eleanor Harker.

Overall, gritty but compelling, and definitely worth a watch at least once. 9/10 Bethany Cox

Poignant ending

Warning: Spoilers
This season five finale, End Game, had quite a poignant ending. It's not the final instalment of Kavanagh QC, a very fine series from the UK, but it could have been actually. We see Kavanagh being promoted to Head of Chambers after Foxcott dials back his work commitments following a health scare. Also, the final scene with Kavanagh and Foxcott fishing together demonstrated their friendship beyond chambers. Talking of which, at the end of the episode we see the River Court Chambers sign with some of the names of the barristers who occupy the second floor: Mr Peter Foxcott, Mr James Kavanagh, Mr Jeremy Aldermarten, Mr Ronald Silbertson, Mr Alan Schumaker, Mr Robert Grainer, Mr Michael Altman. Sadly, this is the final appearance of Geraldine James as Eleanor Harker QC, as she heads off to The Hague for International Crimes Tribunal work.

Equally sadly, this is the final appearance of Annabel Mullion as Martha Miller.
