The unlucky 13th floor
kevinolzak30 November 2016
"One of Our Hotels is Growing" opens with the Nelsons and Bellows vacationing in Los Angeles, at a 12 floor hotel that has no vacancy. No luck in finding any rooms around town so Jeannie blinks up an extra floor, without telling anyone. Bellboy Perkins (Marvin Kaplan) is the first to notice the unlucky 13th floor, followed by resident drunk Fotheringay (Jimmy Cross), who usually attempts to jump off the roof, naturally assuming that the new floor is a figment of his foggy perception. Manager Montjoy (Ned Wertimer) never catches on, despite the puzzled reaction from the switchboard operator (Fran Ryan). Never intending for the Bellows to leave, Tony and Roger must pose as various hotel employees looking after their every need. Larry Hagman's versatility is shown to great advantage in one hilarious guise after another, with Bill Daily a close second.
