A really tense and trashy episode
Woodyanders25 December 2010
Warning: Spoilers
Married, but sleazy and philandering music company advertising executive Bob Ames (a perfectly smarmy portrayal by August Schellenberg) fancies himself as quite the ladies' man. Bob initially can't believe his good luck when he discovers the lovely Cathy Marks (a nicely sexy and sultry performance by delectable blonde bombshell Pamela Bowman) taking refuge from a fierce thunderstorm in his remote hunting cabin in the woods. However, Bob soon suspects that the mysterious Cathy might be a deadly escapee from a local institution for criminally insane women. Director Ivan Nagy relates the simple, but absorbing premise at a steady pace, milks a good deal of suspense from the spooky situation, and stages the thrilling conclusion with both principal characters stalking in each in the forest with genuine skill and verve. The capable leads do a sound job of playing off each other. The nasty surprise ending packs a pretty mean punch. Best off all, the gorgeous Bowman displays a lot of her incredibly tasty voluptuous body, with a sizzling soft-core fireside sex scene set to lurid grinding music rating as the definitely steamy highlight. Francois Protat's crisp cinematography makes neat use of shadowy lighting and an agile prowling Steadicam. Paul Hoffert's shuddery score hits the spine-tingling spot. Fans of this show will certainly enjoy this up to speed episode.

Probably one of the shows best episodes.

Our episode starts with Bob Ames picking up our titular hitchhiker character. Ames is a sleazy music producer, who goes on about his constant affairs with several other women despite his wife's knowledge of it happening and the fact he also has kids as well. Ames is driving on a dark and stormy night and it is hinted that a insane woman has escaped the local mental hospital. He ventures out to a cabin in the woods that he owns only to find a mysterious woman named Cathy there naked covered in a sheet, trying to escape the storm. She is an aspiring actress and as his usual perv self he asks her to stay for the night till the storm passes. Strangely Cathy begins to seduce him and they both have sex. However, he then hears the radio broadcast again about the escaped woman who has a tendency to cut her lovers throats with kitchen knives, and her description fits Cathy's perfectly, but, is she really the killer?. This is a really fun episode that's what you'd come to expect from a series like this. You have some great nudity, a little bit of softcore sex (both courtesy of HBO) and a fun game of cat and mouse between the two protagonists. The only thing is that you can probably see how the ending is going if you've ever watched shows like this before, but, it doesn't ruin the fun of it. August Schellenberg plays the sleazy womanizer perfectly and the little known Pamela Bowman who seems to have had just a short 8 year or so stretch in mostly guest television roles, does decent and defiantly has no problem in showing skin. Overall, like said a fun cat and mouse style episode with a usually fun twist, probably among the shows best episodes.

Give Credit where it's due

This story is adapted from a EC comic story, "Came the Dawn " Even the characters have the same names as the ones in the original story, so why don't they acknowledge that in the Credits?
