Goldblume (an excellent Joe Spano) investigates a suspected case of aspirin tampering. Belker (a fine Bruce Weitz) works undercover as a bum to bust a hotel scam. A missing suitcase full of cocaine causes major problems for both Buntz (a terrific Dennis Franz) and Sid (well played to the wormy hilt by Peter Jurasik).
The business with Buntz and Sid getting into major trouble with the suitcase provides plenty of nerve-wracking tension that culminates in an especially harrowing sequence in which Buntz and Sid narrowly avoid being killed by lethal street hood Toro (a memorably scary performance by Pepe Serna). Moreover, a subplot about a young stressed-out woman (a touching portrayal by Michele Lamar Richards) who's trying to take care of her elderly parents proves to be quite poignant. Familiar character actor Jason Wingreen contributes a nice turn as an irate druggist. This episode comes neatly full circle with the suitcase being locked up in a police station evidence room.
