One of Lucie Arnaz's All Time Best
kgraovac2 December 2023
When a business acquaintance tells Harry a pampered secretary is an efficient secretary, he tries out this strategy on Lucy, but she thinks he's trying to get rid of her.

Mary Jane appears in the opening scene giving Lucy a manicure and it's quite comical the way she quickly bolts and runs out when Harry yells at her. We never saw him be so harsh with her before, either here or on THE LUCY SHOW. Later, she re-enters the scene and Harry overhears her call him an "old grouch", so she really gets his ire in this one.

Lucy is tasked with hiring another secretary and the efficient applicant is played by Ms. Ball's personal real-life secretary Wanda Clark.

The high rating for this one is because of the last act where Kim masquerades as the dippy "Shirley Shopenaur". The characterization is like a late Sixties prototype for Fran Drescher on THE NANNY. It's over-the-top but hilarious, especially when she answers the phone "Carter's Eunuch Employment Agency".

One of the best of the season thanks to Lucie Arnaz' performance.

Lucie Arnaz shines with Gale Gordon

Warning: Spoilers
Lucie Arnaz shines in this episode. She poses as Lucy's Assistant Shoiley Shopenauer and gives Harry a hard time. Lucy does a good job and stays out of the way as Lucie and Harry deliver the laughs. Lucie is only 17 or 18 but she plays her role well. She is prototype of the Fran Drescher character in the Nanny and she is so darn cute!

Lucie proved that she was talented and she earned that distinction with this episode. Gale Gordon is essential to the success of "Here's Lucy." His comedic timing is perfect. He really looked like he was in pain when the typewriter dropped on his foot.

This episode is a must watch and is barrel of laughs.
