This episode of "Hawaii Five-O" begins with a guy sneaking around in a store room. The guys upstairs hear it and go down to investigate. They end up shooting and killing the intruder. But who was the intruder, what was he looking for and why would they shoot him? Soon after the body is discovered, Five-O learns that the dead man is a private detective. Oddly, his corpse has gold dust on him--and McGarrett is naturally curious what the dead man had been investigating and how he would come in contact with all that gold.
In the next scene, one of two men who shot the private detective is working with a couple scoundrels who make a few bucks here and there exploring relatively unimportant shipwrecks. They are transferring a million dollars to their boat--and seeding the ocean floor with a bit of the gold. It seems that the gold was stolen, recast in very old style gold bars and they are pretending it was just discovered on the ocean floor--which isn't so improbable since gold does not oxidize like other metals. And so, there is no way to really prove where the gold came from....and you wonder if maybe the crooks will get away with this one. See this show to see how it all is sorted out by Five-O.
An interesting show--and there's a lot more to the plot than I have already told you. A novel idea, the only thing that puzzled me was how State laws would really affect such a find--wouldn't the state of Hawaii try to take their 'cut'--as governments are likely to do...?
