And Then There Was One (#2.16)
ComedyFan201016 January 2014
Warning: Spoilers
Sophia decides to participate in a marathon and the other girls want to contribute to the event as well. They decide to provide baby sitting service. In the day they have to deal with a bunch of kids in the house and at the end they are all picked up except for one baby, they call child services and they tell the to keep it until Monday. but then the father shows up. His wife had triplets so they couldn't pick her up and he actually called Sophia to tell her.

The show had funny moments. Especially during the baby sitting when they say that one has to have a child's mind to get along with them and Rose comes in playing on a kitchen utensil followed by a "band" of children.

It brought us also more of Blanche's character who feels she missed out on motherhood and doesn't have her kids appreciate her enough. I really liked the conversation on the phone. Very sweet and emotional and greatly done by Rue McClanahan.

Left holding the baby.

The Girls agree to some babysitting, but when the children return home, they're left with one young baby, and the parents are unavailable.

It's one of the more zany plots this one, instead of babysitting just one or two children, they have enough for a small school.

Of course it's funny, but there are the serious moments too, Blanche chatting away about her own children, that was quite a sad scene.

Norman really is a little monster, he's very funny, he really gave the girls a tough time, that scene with Blanche was very funny.

Sophia's gym outfit is a scream, you have to laugh, I love the idea of her being a sports celebrity.

7/10.

Slow and steady hits the wall.

Warning: Spoilers
As Sophia proves at over 80 that she's still got a lot of life ahead of her by entering a walkathon, the three younger women stay home and babysit for other entry's children, dealing with a bratty kid and a baby whom they believe has been abandoned. They ponder what to do with the baby which leads Blanche to feel regrets over how she neglected her children, leading her to contact daughter Janet for a touching, bittersweet finale. It has a number of funny lines and amusing visual gags, but is not one of the better written episodes, that is until the final scene.

Baby is wrong age

Warning: Spoilers
Why has no one noticed that the baby Emily cannot be more than 6 months old yet the parents don't pick her up because her mother just had triplets. There's no way she could be having another baby at term with the six-month-old

Has she got a revolving door womb or something?

They decide on waiting and getting a few things for the days ahead.

The next day as the girls prepare breakfast, Sophia reveals people had been calling her all night from the event saying she's a celebrity, just then Emily's father returns, confronted he admits he did call and Sophia answered bragging about her achievements. He reminds her of what he said, he couldn't pick up Emily because his wife had triplets, Sophia misheard him and so didn't tell anyone. With that problem solved, Emily is taken home but it's clear Blanche hoped she could prove herself, Dorothy comforts her saying that her children do need her but she doesn't agree.
