It's Rory's b'day!
misslegend-1663721 July 2020
It was Rory's birthday, you guys! It was her sweet sixteenth!

She had, like two bday parties, one with her grandparents and their snooty high friends and - unfortunately- the Chilton kids. With only one outburst on Rory's part, the party was almost okay.

The other party was awesome, though, which consisted of Rory's and Lorelai's friends and Rory really had fun in this one.

So, what else went down this episode, you ask? I will tell you what else went down: the post-it incident. God, was that hilarious. It was also kind of crazy Lorelai's mum and dad's part. I mean, who has their daughter and granddaughter put post it notes to mark stuff they want after one's demise? It was super ridiculous, but also super funny.

Rory and Dean progress further in their relationship (secretly of course). He even stops by at Luke's to mouth happy birthday to her. That reminds me, if we didn't know this already, we know it now for sure: Luke's a ginormous softie. We can tell from the effort he put in setting up a table specially for Rory at her birthday complete with balloons and a cake.

The creepy guy, Tristin, simply refuses to give Rory a break even on her birthday. Also, I am willing to bet Paris has a secret crush on Tristin coz she's seen asking Rory whether she's going out with Tristin. Speaking of which, Paris was decent to Rory for the entirety of this episode. Crazy, right?

Lorelai had a twinkle in her eye when her mum stated that Like had a thing for her. So, yeah. Luke and Lorelai are also gonna hook up.

Oh, there was significant growth observed in Rory's grandma.

And that's all I have to say for this episode. Thank you for reading!

Outstanding. Heart-wrenching.

Warning: Spoilers
This episode hurts. It is the first of many that puts me in my feels, specifically the Emily and Lorelai relationship. Emily is saddened that she has not been a part of Lorelai's life and Lorelai tried to comfort her. I live for the Emily-Lorelai sweet moments. They don't come often, but when they do, they are totally worth it!

The One With Two Birthday Parties...

Warning: Spoilers
I really enjoy this episode. I honestly hate Emily in this episode, though, because she's so unreasonable. Rory wants to spend her birthday at home with her friends, but is forced to go to her Grandparents' house.

In this episode, it's Rory's 16th birthday, and sadly for her and Lorelai, it falls on a Friday. Because of this, Emily won't allow them to stay in Stars Hollow for the night, and force them to come to Friday Night Dinner. But when they arrive, Rory's acquaintances from school are there, and no one really cares that it's her birthday. After the night they go home to her real birthday party.

Fun Fact: We learn that Rory's birthday is October 8th.

Fun Fact: It's Rory's 16th birthday, but in the Pilot episode, Lorelai says she is already sixteen.

Best part of the episode: Rory's casual birthday party.

Worst part of the episode: Emily.

Overall, I give this episode an 8 out of 10, which in my ratings book is: Awesome.

Emily tries to strengthen connections between her and rory

Warning: Spoilers
Emily tries to strengthen connections between her and rory. Also between lorelai but she probably does not want to push loreali because loreali is very stubborn and emily thinks hard to fix it.

So, emily really tries. Also richard. They even came to the that house. Such rich and elite people came that house.

They saw how a small town is. How people are happy together and know each other well. Maybe at 2000s, it was like this. Maybe still same, i am not sure.

It was good to see a party in a such neighbourhood. A wise party.

Emily was really sad when she left the party. For years, she was not part of lorelai's life but now she can be part of her granddaughter. She can make it.

Emily is a hoot

Warning: Spoilers
I love that Rory chooses not to tell Lorelai about Emily's planned party because Lor and Em are actually getting along. The party at The Gilmore's is a bit of a disaster but kudos to Lorelai for standing up to Emily. Emily & Richard end up going to Rorys second party hosted at Lorelais house which is enjoyable. I love the quote from Lorelai saying "I'm smiling because you're crazy and that's what you do to crazy people to keep them calm." Hilarious.
