Sisterly Love really does a good job in depicting sibling rivalry--one of the key elements of the show. To me, that is where the show gets its strength. Many episodes in the future about this subject have weak stories with strong gags that make up for it. Sisterly Love finds a better balance.
Aside from sibling rivalry, this is one of those episodes where we DJ as a spoiled brat. Her ego gets the better of her by doing a good performance at school of the "Frog and the Princess." Jesse gets her hopes up about doing professional acting and she nags Danny into letting her audition for a cereal commercial. She does a good job, but Stephanie--just having fun--gets the part instead, leaving DJ feeling angry and jealous. She is actually sick of sisters, but doesn't see the bright side of being the oldest. She wants everything for herself. I can relate to that because I am the little sibling, so I know cute, and I know sacrificing because the older sibling is jealous. I can also relate with DJ anger of not getting the commercial.
The subplot in this features Joey deciding to completely eliminate junk food after his doctor telling him of his high cholesterol. A very great subplot.
When DJ and Stephanie reconcile, it isn't any revelation, just a reminder to any older sibling.
