A dying building society Executive offers up one dying word, fraud, Gamble believes that Magistrate, and fellow Executive Joseph Hordern is involved, he's questioned through the night.
Seeing the name Robert banks Stewart in the opening credits filled me with real optimism, this series has been a role call of terrific actors, writers and producers.
My expectations were perhaps too high, I found this a bit on the slow side, it turned out to be, very much a procedural affair. It felt too studio bound, too confined to The Office, it needed to get out to breathe. It turned into a very, very slow race against the clock.
There's no denying the brilliance of the late, wonderful Paul Eddington, perfect for the part, the character is sincere and believable. I enjoyed his scenes with Gamble, especially when they became confrontational.
A well conceived idea, strongly acted, just too slow in the delivery, 6/10.
