A lack of trust is not always funny

The IMDb summary says it all but you have to give the writers credit for making a very serious subject the object of humor. No, I'm not referring to Frasier's Ahab like pursuit of a cricket Martin accidentally brought home from his hunting trip. No it's what happens when a spouse, male or female, has a job that requires a high level of security which means there are things you just can't share. In this case Daphne reads Nile's notes and become jealous of a patient. Of course the situation becomes more absurd including a trip to find out what the woman looks like. The situation is not settled until Niles steps in and actually shows a rare bit of temper. Oh, and the most dangerous part of a Gecko is its mind.

Daphne Oversteps Her Bounds
Hitchcoc25 October 2019
Lucy and Ethel (I mean Daphne and Roz) team up to find the details on a patient that said she was in love with Niles. Daphne found this in a confidential file and sets out on the journey of discovery. Meanwhile, Martin and Frasier us every method imaginable to destroy a cricket that has invaded the apartment. There's some pretty funny stuff here. Niles, however, finds nothing humorous in Daphne's activities.

The First Temptation of Daphne

Another good episode. There's been nearly more of those in the ninth series than there was in the whole of the eighth.

I liked Roz and Daphne being teamed up for a storyline, I liked that Martin and Frasier spent some time together - they're positive signs that when the writers get the right people working together in the right storylines then 'Frasier' can still be a decent show.

Yes, the humour has become a bit broader, and I'm not sure they'd have gone with these plots earlier in the shows run, but the marked quality improvement over the last years batch of episode is something in itself.

Long may that continue.
