Love Laura, but she's a b*%ch!

Rob goes out and buys a small women's motorcycle. Laura with her feminine dominance takes over and demands Rob get rid of the bike. He takes it for one ride and gets all the adventure he can out of the machine before selling it. I wish Rob had hooked up with Doris from the motorcycle club.

The mild one.

In "Br-rooom, Br-rooom", Rob comes home with a HUGE surprise...he's bought himself a motorcycle. While it's not as bad as it sounds because it's more a scooter than a big, bad motorcycle, he's also done something unforgivable...he NEVER told Laura about it! Then, in turn, Laura does something horrible...she demands he sell it and treats him more like a child than a husband. As a result, although Rob agrees to sell it, over time he becomes resentful and wants to keep it. So what does Rob do with the cycle? See the show.

This is a cute episode but it also illustrates how irritating both Rob and Laura could be. It's a great show to show couples...as both men and women could learn what not to do by watching it! It's also rather funny and well worth seeing.

HEY, ROBBIE BABY! WHAT'S YOUR STORY?

10 PLUS STARS!

This episode came at the end of the fourth season. Truly, it should have been held over for the premier of the fifth season. It's that GOOD. Classic stuff written by a classic guy, Dale McRaven, who wrote many goofy episodes for the series, later without too much surprise, writer for the PARTRIDGE FAMILY, MORK AND MINDY and creator of PERFECT STRANGERS. What a resume!

Rob just wants to do something different --a guy thing, right? So he up and buys a "mini" motorcycle and off he goes into the wild, blue yonder! BUT there are complications. Laura ain't too keen about the whole thing, and being a terrific wife, you can't blame her. She thinks he'll get himself killed!

Rob survives, though it's worse than a crash --he gets arrested! Arrested! He meets up with a biker gang and it isn't long before the cops are on the scene! This is hilarious stuff, and just watching Dick Van Dyke's expressions, his rubbery body language, are the whole show. Also McRaven tosses in some great dialogue.

Good supporting cast with Sandy Kenyon playing the no nonsense cop, also comedian Johnny Silver as the wisecracking counter guy. Pretty Linda Marshall plays Doris, the biker gal. Marshall co- starred in the TAMMY tv series and the subsequent movie series.

Dedicated to all armchair bikers, and a few of us who did the Rob Petrie thing and owned one for a day or two! SEASON 4 EPISODE 31 remastered dvd box set.

Rob needs to grow some grapes !

Warning: Spoilers
This is a real bummer of an episode and it shows us a depressingly poor example of the joys and dynamics of married life.

Rob Petrie is a loyal worker, provider, husband and friend.

Rob does everything he is supposed to do and a whole-lot of nice extra things in his relationship with wife Laura.

Rob buys himself a laughably cute, tiny motorcycle for a new and fun hobby.

Wife Laura does not like the idea of Rob enjoying himself without her and tries her best to put a stop to it. (In desperation she even invokes 'safety' 🤡)

In the meantime there is a side plot with Rob meeting up with a small 'motorcycle gang' at the burger joint while out on a ride. Rob gets razzed by the young 'gang members' about his little bike but Rob is a good sport and he soon wins over the 'motorcycle gang' guys and girls after getting to know them in his friendly way.

So far Rob has not done the slightest wrong thing but the neurotic and selfish Laura just isn't having any of it !

Poor sad-sack Rob cannot even own a mini-bike without catching hell from the woman that is supposed to love him.

In real-life,happy couples support each other in each of their different hobbies. They sure don't try to prevent each other from doing things that they like and enjoy.

This episode doesn't say anything good for the characters or for marriage !

What a drag.
