Woman on the spot
searchanddestroy-118 January 2016
Dotty Malone plays a wife who goes to Mexico border to run from her husband. She doesn't want to see him anymore. But it appears that she is also asked by the District Attorney to testify against a mob boss whom she knows many things about. Thomas Gomez plays the gang leader in a convincing way, although I would have better seen Ted De Corsia. So, as far as he is not married to the witness, and as far as a woman can't testify against her husband, he asks her to marry him. So that...Her husband - Paul Richards - is a Gomez's associate. So, as soon as she and her husband get divorce, she rapidly becomes the target for the mob. Dennis O'Keefe is a simple bystander, a man in love with Malone, who wants to protect her. Well, maybe that's not so simple. This scheme reminds me Phil Karlson's TIGHT SPOT, where Brian Keith was a cop in charge to protect witness Ginger Rogers, until we realize he was hired by the mob to kill her till...But here that's not just the same, just looks like it a little. Directed by Ray Milland. Not bad, nothing more.
