Modelling recruiters visit Lawndale High
Tweekums30 January 2013
Warning: Spoilers
When the Amazon Modelling Agency approaches Ms Li to give a free modelling class to select students; with the possibility of one student getting a modelling contract she agrees... in return for money to install bulletproof skylights in the pool! Daria is horrified that something like this should be allowed at school but Quinn sees it as a great opportunity. The class doesn't quite go according to plan as Ms Li is shocked when she walks in on the class and finds the modelling recruiters have got the girls pawing shirtless boys... this is nothing like the shock she receives when school assembly is interrupted by group of mercenary recruiters who believe she had invited them... it isn't hard to guess who really invited them (and the media)!

This isn't a classic episode as the main story isn't as interesting as most; it did have a decent number of laughs though; the ending was pretty hilarious even if it was ridiculous. We also learn why Daria has a room with padded walls which was something I'd wondered about. The modelling recruiters were somewhat cliché but produced some chuckles... I dread to think what one of them was having done to her while she was on the phone to Helen! Overall this episode was funny enough but if you miss it you don't have to worry that you missed a something special.

Maybe it was just me, but this one seemed pretty weak.

A fly-by-night modeling school has convinced Ms. Li (in other words, they paid her) to let them come to Lawndale High to pitch their 'free modeling class'. Quinn is thrilled as she has visions of huge success as does Brittany. Unfortunately, the one they wanted was neither--and certainly NOT the one you'd expect. As for Daria, she's mostly absent from the episode as she follows Quinn but just sits on the sidelines and watches all the shallowness.

As I said in the summary, this one seemed weak. Part of it was because of Daria not being THE central character in the story but most of it seemed because the show just wasn't that funny. Ironic, yes...funny, no. In addition, it's a rather contrived idea for the show. Not terrible but certainly a bit disappointing for a normally brilliant series. I guess you can't win 'em all.

Show Off Those Gams Girlfriend!

I will never forget that line. It's stayed with me for years. I feel like this episode is packed full of quotable lines.

This is one of my favourite episodes. It's absolutely hilarious and the fashionistas are portrayed so well.

We get an insight into Ms Li's money grubbing ways. The whole thing is so absurd and Daria comes to the rescue to show off the insanity of allowing these organisations into the school to recruit children.
