Larry Hagman: J.R. Ewing

Quotes

  • JR Ewing : [Bobby is trying to make peace between J.R. and Ray]  Let's get on with it, Ray... I got better things to do than stand around in cow dung all day long.

  • JR Ewing : [on phone to hotel management]  And remember, no more alcohol from room service and no more babysitters unless I say so, you understand that?

[behind him, Sue Ellen enters room, tipsy from all that champagne]

    JR Ewing : Yeah, right.

    [ends call]

JR Ewing : Where on earth have you been?

Sue Ellen Ewing : Oh, I was out trying to spend all your money, J.R. But you just have too much.

    [giggles drunkenly]

Pamela Barnes Ewing : I took her shopping.

JR Ewing : [curtly]  Yes, I can see that. Thank you.

    [to Sue Ellen:]

JR Ewing : You look real tired, darling, why don't you go in the bedroom, get a little rest?

Sue Ellen Ewing : Isn't it wonderful how thoughtful he can be when he's caught with his boots under the wrong bed?

[walks away, out of the room, slams the door]

JR Ewing : [to Pamela]  You've done a hell of a job. She's loaded.

Pamela Barnes Ewing : It could have been a lot worse if I hadn't been with her.

    JR Ewing : Uh-huh.

Pamela Barnes Ewing : Look, she was on her way to a bar when I got here. And she wouldn't be drinking if it wasn't for you, and she wouldn't have had the accident!

    [on her way out]

JR Ewing : I've never seen a woman open her mouth more and say less!

Pamela Barnes Ewing : [turns back]  Didn't she get in that car after having a fight with you?

JR Ewing : There never would have been an accident if Bobby hadn't interfered.

Pamela Barnes Ewing : Bobby? You'd try and blame the last Texas tornado on Bobby if you could!

JR Ewing : Well, I may not be totally innocent with this, but there's plenty of blame to go around. You don't know what happened on that Braddock Road, I do.

[unaware that Sue Ellen had returned and is standing at the doorway, listening in]

JR Ewing : So does Bobby. The man who rammed my car was Walt Driscoll. Bobby and Ray framed him. Put him in jail for no reason. He hit that car out of revenge.

Pamela Barnes Ewing : Revenge against whom? It was your car, not Bobby's!

Sue Ellen Ewing : You mean... that the accident wasn't my fault after all?

    [J.R. whirls around]

Sue Ellen Ewing : It was your car. That man was trying to kill you, J.R. He wanted to kill *you*, and he made a mistake. He thought you were driving it.
