Another favorite of mine this season.

After sorting out the Rex/Hannah mistake, it seemed as though the show was finally ready to take off. And what better way to do it than with a « werewolf » themed episode? Only it's a Wendigo, and to fit the mood of the show more, its background is more romantic and dramatic than the actual legend. The creature itself, is very menacing and surprisingly scary. Great work from the makeup's department. Also, it's the first time Doherty and Milano didn't look stiff or annoyed around each other. Good episode overall, with pleasant guest appearances by Billy Jayne and Christina Milian. And just like in 1x06, music supervisors put real thoughts into picking replacement songs for it.

Take Care with the Full Moon
claudio_carvalho21 January 2007
Piper stops alone at a park in the night with a flat tire and is attacked and scratched by a bestial creature, while calling the auto club. She is save by Billy, a man that has recently lost his fiancée to the monster, and he uses a flare to scare the creature. While recovering in the hospital, the FBI agent Ashley Fallon arrives and tells Andy that Piper is the first victim to survive the attack of the creature, and she joins Andy in the investigation. Pipe reads in the Book of Shadow that the Wendigo is a normal person during the day, unleashing along three consecutive full moon nights and eating the hearts of their victim. She tells Billy, and he calls Fallon, but when they meet each other, he discloses that she is actually the Wendigo. Meanwhile Piper sees the beginning of her transformation in the arm and her attitudes. Prue and Phoebe need to kill the Wendigo to save Piper.

"The Wendigo" is a beast that recalls the werewolf, and in this episode Prue and Phoebe needs to take a decision to save Piper. The story is good, but the killer is disclosed too soon. The other story, relative to a missed child, is very forgettable. My vote is eight.

The One Where Piper Turns Into A Wendigo...
taylorkingston6 June 2015
Warning: Spoilers
I really like this episode. I think it's really cool that Piper is the first sister to turn into something evil, and the fact that it's a weird, wolf, beast, monster thing just makes it even better. I do have to admit that seeing this episode when I was about six years old, the Wendigo did creep the hell out of me.

In this episode, Piper is attacked by a beast. An FBI agent shows up looking for the exact same creature. But because of the scratch, Piper is becoming the beast herself. The sisters look in the Book Of Shadows and discover that the beast is a Wendigo. Plot twist, the FBI agent is the Wendigo. Meanwhile, Prue hires Phoebe to work at the auction house, but when Phoebe gets a premonition off one of the items up for auction, it leads her to go on a mission to find a long-lost child.

Fun Fact: This is the first time any sister turns into something evil.

Best part of the episode: When Piper is in Wendigo form, with the other Wendigo, and Prue and Phoebe are trying to figure out who is who.

Worst part of the episode: The side story about the missing child, I just felt like it was too much for one episode.

Overall, I give this episode an 8 out of 10, which in my ratings book is: Awesome.

A bad moon arisen
Realrockerhalloween9 September 2016
The wendigo finally goes for a creature feature as it reminds me a lot of the wolf man. The creature, phases of the moon and a loved one are all very similar.

Piper breaks down on a deserted road at night when attacked by a horrifying monster. Now her sisters must find it before it causes anymore mayhem and save their sister. This really showed a side of Piper or I guess in all of us the dark that resides even in the most meek waiting to be unleashed. A side story is shown, but with a main story of epic proportions it feels like dead weight and easily over looked.

While I like the set up, the haunting atmosphere and fake outs it reveals the creative's identity to quick. It would be perfect tens all around if the side story has been saved for another time and the big reveal pushed back ten minutes to keep you guessing. Also involving Andy was a great step to take and added the emotion connection needed to flesh it out. It felt personal and you cared instead of another nameless face trying to score big in a guest role.

Piper is a Beast
seneuser13 October 2023
Warning: Spoilers
This is the famous episode where Piper turns into a hairy beast after being attacked by one in the opening.

Charmed takes on the monster horror/mystery thriller genre in the vain of "Silver Bullet", though I agree that the show ended the mystery a little too early.

It was cool to see another woman, besides Prue, actually warm up to Andy, while the other guest star, Billy got too early of an exit.

The best part of the episode was when Piper was turning into the Wendigo and getting more and more mean as she did so. Her sisters go to save Andy and hunt for the Wendigo. This leads to a familiar, though effective, climactic set up where the sisters are running out of flares to kill the Wendigo, and then a second Wendigo appears!

Excellent set up and great ending.
