Following on from Peter Sallis. Joe Gladwin is the latest Last of the Summer Wine stalwart to appear in Budgie.
Gladwin plays Maguire, who was Budgie's cellmate. Now it looks like Maguire has escaped from open prison having heard that his wife has taken up with some Pakistani bus conductors.
Hazel wants him out but Budgie wants to stay loyal to his old cellmate.
Of course Maguire is a kleptomaniac and a liar to boot. Poor Budgie he is just too trusting of the wrong kind. Charlie Endell puts Budgie right.
This has everything. A stolen car, buried chickens, Hazel being matched with a butcher by her mother and Charlie Endell being robbed. That does not go down well.
A wonderfully entertaining performance from Gladwin. Seeing Maguire and Budgie together with Budgie complaining about Maguire's stinking feet. It was like watching Porridge.
