The Creative Spirit
bkoganbing25 August 2020
In a rather odd saloon brawl Lorne Greene makes the acqaintence of Dan O'Herlihy an artist who is now robbed of his sight due to an illness. He's now mad at the world and taking it out on those closest to him which includes his housekeeper Virginia Grey and hired man Arch Johnson.

O'Herlihy's performance is nothing short of brilliant. His scenes with Lorne Greene are really special and should have been Emmy considered.

I guess if there is a moral to this Bonanza story it is that the creative spirit cannot be stifled. If one outlet ia closed another will emerge. To see what I mean watch this episode.

And see an outstanding performance by Dan O'Herlihy.

A good ep and fine drama but caution--rather little action

Warning: Spoilers
This ep has Ben Cartwright going away from Virginia City to the exclusive home of a blind man. The man turns out to be a formerly famous painter. Ben helps the man realize new aspects of his life. These type of eps establish Ben's character as a great and powerful one.

The ending when the blind man's assistant does not end up with a date with the housekeeper despite fancying her is a little disappointing too.
