One paranoid Senator
bkoganbing25 February 2021
US Senator Andrew Duggan another old Barkley friend is coming for a visit and Barbara Stanwyck lays out the welcome mat Before getting into politics Duggan was a frontier lawman and I imagine he ran on quite the law and order platform.

Duggan with his aide Robert Ellenstein fear he's the target for assassination and he kills a gambler Vincent Van Lynn And Duggan kills him when he feels an imminent threat.

There's a fine performance here from Andrew Duggan a man whose instincts for self preservation may be to sharply edged. This is a reunion of sorts for Richard Long and Andrew Duggan who co-starred on Bourbon Street Beat some years earlier.

A Senator coming apart
mlbroberts2 May 2020
Andrew Duggan plays Sen Robson, a man buckling under the strain. He believes there is a conspiracy out there against him, people ready to kill him. He even suspects a poor young ranch hand of being out to kill him. He comes to visit his old friends the Barkleys but ends up shooting another man he mistakes for an old enemy, claiming the man was tryin to kill him. He asks Jarrod to defend him, but Jarrod quickly begins to see the truth - the Senator is unhinged - and then Jarrod falls under Robson's suspicions.

Andrew Duggan was huge man, 6'5", who was good at playing characters who were a few cards short of a deck. This is the second one he played on The Big Valley. He and Richard Long (Jarrod) did Bourbon Street Beat together several years earlier. They still work well together here, with characters who are different than Rex Randolph and Cal Calhoun were.

A Senator sees enemies around every turn
kfo949420 February 2013
Andrew Duggan is well cast as a senator named Jud Robson that comes to the Barkley Ranch for a visit. The Senator which has come up from the ranks of law enforcement to US Senator has made a few enemies along the way. After receiving a threatening letter, the Senator has a strong fear of an assassination attempt of his life. The fear is so strong that he suspects nearly everyone.

However, with this fear, the Senator finds a way to visit the town's saloon and gets into a card game with a man named Keller. When Keller takes nearly all of the Senator's money, the Senator believes that the man named Keller is part of a group ready to kill him. In a suspicious incident, the Senator shoots Keller and then claims self-defense. There is even a man claiming that he saw Keller draw first-- but we as the viewer know that is not the truth. The Senator could be getting away with murder all due to his election to office.

Mr Duggan is excellent as the US Senator that see ghosts behind every tree. The way he went from talking like a respectable Senator to a paranoid madman was near perfect. With the nice acting and the well rounded script this show was a pleasure to watch.

NOTE- Why the credit list Joyce Jameson as 'The Blond' is unknown. I thought she was more of a red head plus had a name of Pearl.
