Ideas. Who knew?

Warning: Spoilers
Plot; With his powers stripped by a newly assertive Council of Twelve, Commander Adama and the Galactica are vulnerable to the scheming of their dangerous prisoner Baltar.

After more than a year away, I return to my re-watch of a show that's taken longer than the show itself lasted. In need of some comfort food, the mess hall on the Galactica had just what I needed on its menu.

The original BSG will never be associated with "big ideas", but to simply dismiss it as empty headed junk food sci-fi isn't exactly fair. This episode sees the Colonial Council of Twelve move to take the Galactica and its ragtag fleet--which has been under martial law since their colonies were destroyed by the Cylons--off of a war footing. What initially seems like a simple, plot serving clash between the Council's naïve peacenik mindset and the hard won pessimistic wisdom of Adama and his crew sees the latter thoughtfully consider the Council's arguments and do his best to comply. For their part, the Council--particularly the episode's chief bureaucratic foil--show a steely resolve and a willingness to act when all other avenues close. Is it heady stuff? No, not really. But it's a bit weightier than its "Pew! Pew! Pew!" reputation.

Action packed

This is a fun episode in which Baltar plots an escape, aided by the Eastern Alliance and the Borillian Nomen. It's well plotted and filled with twists and turns, and most importantly the outcome is never predictable. They don't make 'em like this anymore. Baltar as always was a fun, dastardly villiain, and as ever it's up to Starbuck and Apollo to try and stop him.

Baltar was such a great character!

Warning: Spoilers
Baltar was such a great character! Baltar's Escape was, just another prison escape, but the Baltar character's evil genius makes for a great story from an old story plot! Balter works with the different groups while working in the lunch hall and something is amidst! But what! Admana and the rest of the crew have to out wit Baltar! The anti Balter plan works out well in a humorous way! Mid part of the three parter movie with the Baltar's Escape installment is the best! Intrigue, strong start, humor, and the ending with a plot twist making the viewer wanting to watch the part three was excellently executed . The conclusion has a mix of humor with a cleaver plot twist which was a brilliant wrap up for a entertaining episode. Baltar's Escape was memorable when the viewer roots against Baltar. Love seeing Baltar get it! 8 stars.
