This was an early role, also the only series appearance for Don Johnson (MIAMI VICE), soon to become a tv sensation in his own right.
While Don is best known in cop roles, he goes the other way here, playing a bad guy named Wayne, stealing guns from the US Army. I do agree with the last reviewer, his character is not too wise, which leads to even more complications.
This episode is also very dramatic, as it concerns Wayne's young son (played by David Hollander), who was stuck with him all the while his mother was in prison. Barnaby therefore has to track down the boy and Wayne, who has a double crossing partner. Hollander was a popular child actor at the time, later to become a respected Hollywood music director.
Nan Wolfe guest stars, best known (a few years earlier) for playing Susan Atkins in the electrifying tv movie about Charles Manson, HELTER SKELTER. Watch that movie if you have a chance. Also an early role for Gary Sandy (WKRP), as Sy.
Interestingly, this was the only episode directed by Harry Falk, who was everywhere on tv. One of his series was THE ROOKIES, many others. A great director and it shows here.
Recommended, but obviously the main focus is Don Johnson. SEASON 5 EPISODE 9 remastered.
